The Investment Security Technology Initiative was announced by Secretary Bessent and Assistant Secretary Pilkerton as an effort to convene leading experts and strengthen how the United States safeguards critical investments and emerging technologies, which is essential to ensuring U.S. national security and global competitiveness.

ISTI Mission
ISTI seeks to strengthen the technological and scientific foundations that support the work of CFIUS and the Outbound Investment Security Program by engaging technical experts across government, academia, industry, and the research community to help Treasury and its interagency partners evaluate critical and emerging technologies and anticipate new and evolving national security risks.
Through regular engagements, expert briefings, attendance at conferences, and flagship events focused on technology and investment security, ISTI will deepen dialogue with universities, think tanks, industry associations, corporate research and development, and other stakeholders whose insights and innovations are critical to protecting U.S. national security and preserving U.S. technological leadership.
